someone’s dad

He has the kind of bright blue eyes that catch the light and hold it, the sort you notice from across a room long before he says a word. They soften the moment he looks at his daughter, and everything you need to know about him is right there.

PORTRAITURE

As a portrait photographer based in Byron Bay, I create portraiture that reaches past the surface and captures who someone really is. Every session is built around light, presence, and the quiet moments in between, so the final images feel honest rather than posed. Whether you want a single striking portrait or a full personal shoot, my work across the Byron Bay and Northern Rivers region is about slowing down and letting the real character of a person come through. If you have been searching for a Byron Bay portrait photographer who values depth and storytelling over stiff, formulaic photos, this is the space for you.

Two Kinds of light

Blue light portrait in the water at sunset. Cool blue tones wash across the surface while the sun burns low on the horizon, two kinds of light meeting in a single frame.

Every portrait session with me is built around a considered, unhurried approach, giving you the space to relax and be genuinely yourself in front of my camera. From natural light portraits to studio style sittings, I tailor each shoot to your story, your energy, and the way you want to be seen. Booking professional portrait photography with me means working with someone who treats your images as more than a photo, capturing a deeper layer that you will want to look back on for years. Reach out for a quote and let's create portraiture that actually feels like you.

how far will i travel?

Based in Byron Bay, I photograph most of my portrait sessions across the beautiful Northern Rivers region, heading up toward the Gold Coast whenever the opportunity calls. This stretch of coast and hinterland is my home ground, and I know its light, its hidden corners, and its magic like the back of my hand. That said, my camera has no boundaries. If the vision is right, I am happy to travel anywhere, whether that means a quiet property in the hills, a stretch of coastline hours away, or somewhere entirely off the map. Wherever your story wants to be told, I will find my way there to capture it.

Portraiture FAQ's

Common questions about portrait photography and headshots I offer, answered for individuals, couples, expecting parents, musicians and businesses booking sessions in Byron Bay and on the Gold Coast. The answers below cover the difference between a headshot and a portrait session, the types of portraits available, what to wear, how nerves are handled on the day, image counts, delivery times and pricing, so you know exactly what to expect before you book.

A headshot is a single, controlled image for a specific use: LinkedIn, a company bio, a casting profile. A portrait session is broader, producing a set of images that carry mood, context and personality, often across several looks or locations. I shoot in both Byron Bay and Gold Coast and will tell you which one you actually need before you book.

I shoot individual portraits, couples, maternity, personal branding and business headshots, musician and artist press portraits, and creative or editorial portraits. Sessions run in a studio, on location or outdoors, depending on the brief. Recent work includes Beach Portraiture for Kaia Anne’s New song release and a Maternity shoot for Lisa Wildling.

Solid colours and simple textures photograph better than busy patterns or logos, and bringing two or three options is usually enough. I send a short preparation guide before every session covering wardrobe, timing and location, so nobody arrives guessing.

Most people are not, and it is the single most common thing clients say before a session. I direct throughout, giving clear posture and expression prompts, rather than expecting people to perform, and the first ten minutes of a session are treated as a warm-up rather than working time.

A standard session delivers 30 edited images, with the full gallery supplied within 2 weeks and a preview selection within 48 hours. I deliver images as high-resolution files for print and web-sized crops for social and profile use.

I price portrait sessions per session rather than by the hour. Pricing varies with the type of shoot, image count, location and usage, and headshots, personal branding and team sessions are each quoted on the brief. Every session I offer includes retouching, confirmed as a fixed quote before the shoot. Contact me for current rates.
